After studying for and completing his BA (Hons) degree in 'Music Performance' Phil set out pursing a career in music. He currently works as an Instrumental & Music Teacher and is the trumpet specialist for Nottinghamshire 'Arts & Sports for Children & Young People' (music service).
As well as teaching, Phil works as a freelance musician and over the past 16 years has gained much experience working as a trumpet player and musical director in both amateur and professional settings. Recent highlights include working with Orchestra of the Swan, Steve Harley & 'Cockney Rebel', a UK tour with 'The Blues Brothers', performing with eighties legends 'Cannon & Ball' on their Rock With Laughter tour, and working with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra on some educational performance-based project work. During the past 2 years Phil has been involved with performances at Kilworth House Theatre on productions of 'Thoroughly Modern Millie', 'West Side Story' and 'Legally Blonde'.
Phil is also a co-director of 'Collegiate Brass' which offers music workshops and performance opportunities to the young people of the East Midlands.
The number of musicals that Phil has been involved with as both a trumpet player and musical director is endless, but some favourites include '42nd Street', 'The Producers', 'West Side Story', 'Sister Act' and a world premier production of 'Saturday Night, Sunday Morning'.
When Phil isn't performing he can often be found scoring & arranging music for a variety of ensembles, tribute acts and Soul & Motown bands.
