"Well - I can honestly say that I can't have thought of a better way to start our "Music in the Great Hall" series at the Minster (Southwell) last night. It was a wonderful programme containing exactly the right variety and length of music for our audience and it was played with total conviction. I hope you enjoyed the concert as much as we did, and I'll make sure that your ensemble stays on file for future events in the series."

"The 2008 season got off to a great start with a recital by Essentially Brass. The audience were very appreciative of a varied program from this classically constituted brass quintet based in Nottinghamshire. With the windows of the Great Hall open on a beautiful spring evening passers by would have also enjoyed the strains of brass shimmering over the Minster grounds. The programme covered a wide range of styles and age of music. The core pieces were Michael Hurd's ‘Harlequin Suite’, Victor Ewald ‘Quintet No 1’ and Samuel Scheidt's ‘Battle Suite’. The audience left the recital to the vibrant and upbeat sound of ‘Amazing Grace’ and a well deserved encore of ‘Mack the Knife."

"We all really enjoyed your performance and your 'get on with it' spirit. As the weather was so poor we were amazed that the audience came at all - but for them to stay for the whole event was incredible. We counted over 100 people as audience, but we have heard from many people that were planning to come if the weather had been better - I think we would easily have had 400+. It is a tribute to you and the Lace City Singers that the audience sat it out. It was a high quality performance and varied programme of music, and we would certainly like to work with both groups again in the future."
